The Brief

Newcastle Community Transport provides community transport services for older adults and people with limited mobility in the Newcastle area. Their website audience includes people who may not be comfortable with technology -- so the accessible website design needed to be as simple, clear and predictable as possible.

What We Built

A deliberately simple ConcreteCMS website with a permanent vertical menu showing all pages at once, high-contrast visual design, and large, clear text. There are no dropdown menus, no hidden navigation, no hamburger icons -- every page is visible from every page.

This isn't a design compromise. It's a deliberate accessibility-first approach for a community transport audience that benefits from predictability and simplicity. The visual aids are bold and high-contrast, and the content is written in plain language that doesn't assume digital literacy.

For community and aged care services in Newcastle and the Hunter Region where the end user may be elderly or have accessibility needs, this kind of thoughtful, audience-aware design makes the difference between a website that helps people and one that frustrates them.
